Quentin William Anthony Newman-Ross, or Quinn as he prefers to be called, was born into the lap of luxury. His great-great-grandfather had started the Geneva hotel chain, so named for his beloved wife, a company that started as only one small bed and breakfast and has now evolved into one of the top 5 star hotel chains in the nation. As a result, Quinn has always had the best of everything and most things came to him on a silver platter. He went to some of the best private schools around, always went on elaborate and expensive vacations, and was practically handed a guaranteed education at an Ivy League college. To say that things always came easy for Quinn would be the understatement of the year.
Growing up, Quinn was your every day rough and tumble boy. Climbing places he shouldn't be climbing, digging in the dirt in the back yard. Everything you'd expect from any other boy. Though he came from money, his parents firmly believed in letting children be children. But, that was when they were in the privacy of their own home. When they were out with their friends or at the country club...anywhere that someone might recognize them...they were expected to behave as ladies and gentlemen. Manners were big in the Newman-Ross household.
As he grew older, Quinn never really gave up his 'boys will be boys' ways. Through out middle school and high school, he would be found out in the woods riding his ATV through mud and muck. Or racing his friends on some back road somewhere. More than once Quinn got brought home in the back of a police cruiser because the "friendly" racing had ended up in places that it shouldn't be. Either that or because, being a typical teenager, Quinn had mixed the pleasures of alcohol and driving. Luckily there were never any charges pressed or any kind of jail time served. In fact, such indiscretions usually never made it past the officer who caught him loading him up and taking him home discreetly. After all...money talks, and Quinn's family had plenty of it.
Needless to say, college wasn't much different for Quinn. He got into the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania where he spent 8 years working on getting a Business Degree. One that he now uses only when he wants to occasionally sit in and be hands on at one of the hotels. To Quinn, the point of college was not to get a degree but rather a place to party and meet women. And, oh, the women he met. He liked to party hard with the girls in school and tended to have a different one hanging off of his arm every weekend. Most of them only wanted to be seen with him because they had found out who he was. They knew the money he had and all had big dreams of being the trophy girlfriend and possibly someday trophy wife. He knew he couldn't trust any of them, however, and that they all only wanted his family's money...which is why none of them ever became serious enough to ever meet his family.
Once his college life was over, Quinn came home to take his place in the family business. His dad allows him input on the hotels and how they are run, but for the most part Quinn's idea of working is to make an appearance, attend a few meetings, and spend most of the day goofing off. It frustrates his father immensely because one day Quinn will take over the running of the hotels, but right now Quinn is more interested in having fun than he is in being a responsible adult. One day, he knows, he will need to buckle down and be the person everyone is expecting him to be. But, for now, he's enjoying being young while he still can.
As for his dating life, that hasn't suffered or fallen off one bit since returning from college. His parents would prefer he stick with someone who is his "equal" and in the same "class" as they are. So, to humor them, he allows them to fix him up with the daughters of their friends. Prissy little débutantes who, like the girls he was with in college, are more interested in being a trophy wife than anything else. The type of girls that Quinn, quite frankly, can't stand. For one, if and when he settles down he doesn't want it to be with someone who is just after a bank account. For another...the débutantes he gets stuck with are boring and stuffy. They don't know how to let loose and have a good time or how to get their hands dirty. So, even while he is "seriously" dating those girls (ie taking them to formal affairs and functions out in the public eye) he usually has a girl or two on the side for fun.
When it comes down to it...Quinn isn't looking to settle down or get serious, just yet. Maybe one day he will, but before that happens...he's going to have to find the girl who makes him want to do it. Until then, he's happy dating around and living the fun and carefree life.
